Considerate Constructors Scheme
The Lomond Group has joined the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS). A national initiative, set up by the construction industry to improve its image, the CCS monitors against a Code of Considerate Practice designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.
In line with the Lomond philosophy the Scheme is concerned about any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole. The main areas of concern fall into three main categories: the environment, the workforce and the general public.
Making specific reference to the CCS the Lomond Group’s Chief Executive, Phillip Ritchie has reinforced the commitments and obligations of the company:
“In the face of recent unwarranted criticism regarding our working practices, in certain geographical locations, we decided to join the Considerate Constructors Scheme. We recognise that there is a synergy between Lomond philosophy and the CCS. We too are concerned about the direct and indirect impact on the image of the construction industry and I am particularly concerned about the impact on Lomond’s image.”
Phillip continues:
“We have always been very proud of our commitments to the communities in which we have worked and proud of what we have done. Under the scrutiny of the Scheme we will continue to ensure that all work is carried out with positive consideration given to the needs of traders and businesses, site personnel, visitors, and the general public. We have taken this voluntary action to join the Scheme being proud of our legacy and confident in our abilities to drive good practice even further.”
The Lomond Group is now registered members of the Scheme following a visit from a CCS Monitor. His assessment of the company’s performance against the Scheme’s Company Code of Considerate Practice was accompanied by the offer of advice and suggestions about how to perform to a higher level. We are taking on board the CCS recommendations and making changes.
