Lomond Homes ensure new Housing Association tenants are the most recent to benefit from 'Secured by Design'.
A development of 62 new homes in the prestigious Lomond Homes New Farm Vale development on the outskirts of Lochgelly, have been designed and built with additional security enhancements. The properties, which have been designed and built to the Police 'Secured by Design' specifications, offer the residents a higher standard of security in comparison to a normal residential estate. Secured by Design is the National Police Initiative implementing Police approved measures such as enhanced security doorsets and windows, the layout of the development ensuring maximum surveillance opportunities from properties, access restrictions and lighting installations, all of which are combined to reduce the risk of crime and anti-social behaviour significantly.
Cowdenbeath Communities Policing Division Chief Inspector Ross Bennet, was on hand to present Secured by Design Certificates for the development to Alan Beaton, Contracts Director and Grant Ritchie, Managing Director, of Lomond Homes. Lomond Homes, Kingdom Housing Association and Ore Valley Housing Association are to be commended for their support of, and adherence to principles the initiative which will ultimately benefit the residents of the town through the reduction in opportunity for and incidences of crime and anti-social behaviour."
Stuart Ward, the Fife Force's Architectural Liaison Officer added, "We always welcome the opportunity to work with architects, developers and builders to ensure a higher level of security for properties are implemented at the planning stages. There are now in excess of 100 residential developments in Fife, which are to Secured by Design standards, which have not suffered from any type of break-ins. The Secured by Design initiative is one of the only 'long term' crime reduction measures, which has an impact on crime through the lifetime of a building".
Grant Ritchie, Managing Director, Lomond Homes, said: “We are delighted to have been part of the ‘Secured by Design’ process. We are committed to ensuring that our customers not only have beautiful homes, but homes that they can feel safe and secure in. This initiative is primarily concerned with making property crime more difficult and I believe that we have achieved that goal."
