A Constructive Day Out For Aberlour
Aberlour is the largest, solely Scottish, children’s charity providing help to over 6000 of Scotland’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families each year.
The Aberlour orphanage was established in 1875. Since opening its doors to four “mitherless bairns” over 130 years ago the organisation has gone from strength to strength customising its services to become regarded as a respected voice of influence on policy and practice that will improve the wellbeing of Scotland's children.
Aberlour have a dedicated team of over 700 staff work across the country in more than 40 services, helping children and young people who need additional care and support to achieve their potential and to live safe, fulfilling lives.
On Wednesday 4th August Lomond welcomed Laura Kay and Gail McDonald, Children’s Workers from Aberlour along with two young children to the Lomond Business Park. Alan Seath Lomond Group Director delivered a ”Bob the Builder” themed presentation on building and safety at work. The children were given an opportunity to dress up in safety clothing and with the assistance of Peter Moran an employee and experienced driver with Lomond Homes, showed the children (and one very interested Children’s Worker) a JCB Wheeled Loader in operation.
When thanking Lomond Group for their hospitality Laura Kay reflected on the visit. “The boys who were there got so much out of the visit (not to mention Gail…!) with one in particular a little sponge who just takes everything in, and the other has now told me he wants to be a builder when he grows up! Laura went on “thanks for helping Gail and I make some amazing memories for a couple of special little guys”.
The Lomond Group is a family run organisation with family values at the heart of all that they do as part of their business. We continue to support all organisations which provide care, support , learning and assistance to everyone in society. We continue to help people “live the difference”.
