Construction Scotland

New FileConstruction Scotland (CS) was established as the industry body in Scotland on the 1st April 2011 assuming the role of the former Scottish Construction Forum. The new organisation is tasked with providing leadership and direction for the sector and will engage with Scottish Government Ministers, key stakeholder groups and the wider industry to fulfill its role.

The Vision of the industry is “Making Construction Work”. In line with this mantra CS will tackle climate change through the Low Carbon Agenda as it aspires to become a significant national and international leader by:

• Creating an industry that is safe, respected, vibrant, interactive and inter-connected;
• Providing high level training, skills development and employment opportunities;
• Providing, measuring and evaluating high level performance across the country;
• Being as productive as the top performing European countries;
• Being profitable and making a major contribution to economic development in Scotland;
• Being a key player in research, development, technology, innovation and knowledge transfer;
• Being major partners with government, local authorities and key related organisations;
• Providing a major influence in environmental, social and cultural development; and
• Planning for the short, medium and long term future of the industry.

This Vision is reinforced by the specific aims of CS which are:

• Gather and represent industry’s views to inform government ministers;
• Encourage employer leadership throughout Scotland;
• Building relationships within the industry and across the UK to promote innovation and excellence;
• Develop and monitor a Scottish Construction Industry Plan;
• Promote the success of the Scottish construction industry;
• Influence activities, supporting the construction industry and lead a coordinated package of change for the future
• Promote a positive image for the construction industry

The organisation comprises an Industry Advisory Group, as well as an Executive and Operations Team.

The Lomond Group is represented on CS by their Director Alan Seath who sits as Chairman and a representative of all the Local Construction Forums across Scotland.
