Lomond Group

The group is expecting planning permission to be granted soon for various projects and has seen success in recent months in securing a variety of excellent planning consents.

Planning permission was recently received from Dundee City's Development Quality Committee for the deHavilland hotel and restaurant complex, a joint venture with local Dundee artist and well-known restaurateur Nael Hanna, to build a landmark new luxury hotel and restaurant complex with an aeronautical theme, overlooking the River Tay near Dundee Airport. This iconic development designed by Ged Young, partner in Dundee architectural practice 'AIM', will comprise 60 quality hotel rooms with the additional flexibility to accommodate business and conference meetings and a restaurant catering for up to 126 diners.

Planning permission has also been received for the construction of an exclusive housing development in Clackmannanshire, which will also see the relocation to new headquarters for Lothian Helicopters, and the construction of a heliport and visitor centre. The development is located on the former Solsgirth mine near Dollar where Lomond intends to build 25 luxury homes, some of which are expected to be sold in excess of £1 million each.

Lomond Homes is currently building in the region of 30 affordable homes a year in partnership with Fife based, Kingdom Housing Association. Other projects currently underway include residential housing sites at Blairhall and Lochgelly and several others pending final planning consent.

Future plans for the Group include the formation of another timber-frame manufacturing business, possibly located out with Fife, as it looks to expand its operations geographically.
