Lomond Homes in partnership with Kingdom Housing Association has completed its latest affordable housing project at Denfield Place, formerly know as Wright Place, Kirkcaldy. The redevelopment involved the demolition of the former Council's flats and the project is part of an ongoing Estate Regeneration Programme in Fife.

33 new homes have been built as part of the redevelopment in Kirkcaldy, and the £3.57million project is part of a programme of affordable housing projects being developed throughout Fife by the Fife Housing Association Alliance.

The Alliance is a partnership between the four Fife-based Housing Associations: Glen, Fife, Ore Valley and Kingdom HA's and the Alliance is the preferred development partner of Fife Council and the Scottish Government, for the provision of affordable housing in Fife.

The project was developed in partnership with Fife Council, who originally owned the land and £2.4m in grant support was provided by the Scottish Government. Former Council owned flats previously occupied the site; however it was agreed the area, at Wright Place required significant investment to redevelop the area, and the unpopular flats were demolished last year.

The proposals for the redevelopment of the area were produced and developed through partnership working between Kingdom, the Council, Lomond Homes and the local Community. Children from the local primary School have also been involved with the project and Lomond Homes organised various events with the school, including ; a series of site visits, together with sessions on construction skills , health and safety and design. Lomond also worked with the children to design a wall sculpture, which will be incorporated into the gateway of new development. Scott McKechnie, Lomond Land Director said "We have been working closely with Kingdom for almost a decade now and over that period we have jointly delivered some excellent projects. This latest development, which is Lomond's largest project with Kingdom includes the Associations 3000th house in Fife. We are extremely happy with the finished product"

To mark the completion of the project, an open day was held to allow the local community and other partners view the completed project.

Councillor Brian Goodall, Chair of Fife Council's Housing & Communities Committee, said: "This is an excellent example of partnership working. We have worked together to make this area more popular and provided this new affordable housing."

The homes range from amenity cottages to two, three and four-bed affordable family houses.

Alan McGuckin Chief Executive at Kingdom Housing Association, said: "The Fife HA Alliance is proving to be a very successful partnership model for the delivery of affordable housing in Fife, and the Kirkcaldy project is an excellent example of a high quality affordable housing project." He also highlighted that this is one of many regeneration projects the Alliance is developing in Partnership with the Council, with other projects being taken forward in Glenrothes, Levenmouth, Lochore, Lochgelly, Dunfermline and Inverkeithing.
